What Is Roller Derby?
- Here’s a quick video intro to roller derby from another roller derby league.
- A great way to get a feel for what we do is to attend a home “bout” (roller derby game).
- You can also check out photos and videos on our Instagram and Facebook pages!

Who Can Join WJR?
Wasatch Junior Rollers (WJR) is an inclusive, co-ed roller derby league for kids 6-17 years of age.
We are affiliated with the Junior Roller Derby Association (JRDA) and accept new skaters at any time.
We have different levels of participants, from never being on skates to advanced players with years of experience. We teach you everything you need to know about roller derby, and you advance at your own pace!
Practice/Game Schedule
New skaters are called “Mighty Minions.” They practice alongside the Home Team on Sunday mornings from 10am-12pm at the Derby Depot (1415 S 700 W #17, Salt Lake City, UT).
Minions can also participate in these optional activities:
- Fabulous Friday Fun Skate (Friday evenings from 5:45pm – 7:00pm)
- Minions skills demonstration at bi-monthly Home Bouts
Once skaters advance to the Home Team, they can play on teams in the bi-monthly Home Bouts.
The most advanced team is the Travel Team, which has additional weekly practices, strength training, and tournaments (home and away).

Cost
The first practice is always free. Loaner gear is free to use for your first 2 practices.
Once you decide to join, here are the costs:
- Mighty Minions & Home Team dues are $50 per month.
- Insurance is $18 per skater annually.
- Gear & uniforms (cost varies)
- Home Bouts (games) bi-monthly
- Usually a $10 entrance fee per attendee. Skaters, volunteers, and kids 8 and under get in free.
If you have questions or need financial assistance, please reach out. We want to support your family’s participation in the program.
